Igor Kovriga Building Capacitive Sensor Systems Using PSoC Series ICs (Cypress Corp.) To date, a lot of literature has been written about capacitive sensors. However, the problem of calculating a small capacitance formed when touching the sensor against the background of parasitic capacitances, the value of which is an order of magnitude higher, still cannot be considered solved. The article discusses a number of methods for detecting touch. These methods have already passed the stages of research and testing. Having obtained a result with a high detection probability and no less high noise immunity, two of the three methods were integrated into special analog modules of the PSoC (Programmable Systems on One Chip) series microcircuits.

Pavel Bazanov, Andrey Marchenko Position sensors in modern automation systems When solving problems related to the automation of technological processes and the implementation of control systems of the widest use, displacement sensors are invariably used, primarily angular position sensors (encoders), linear displacement sensors and tilt angle sensors (inclinometers). The range of functional tasks solved with the help of such elements extends from manipulative systems, from automation of production cycles (manipulators for various purposes, welding, painting machines) to automatic lines of linear and single-plane movement (conveyors, elevator systems and much more). We can say with confidence that position sensors are an indispensable and often a key attribute of almost any modern complex automated control system.

Alexander Krivoruchenko, Sergey Marchenko Non-contact position sensors. Selection problems and application practice In practice, developers and maintenance workers face two types of problems when working with position sensors: choosing a sensor when designing equipment and selecting a sensor to replace a failed one. The Sensor company has been developing and manufacturing proximity sensors for over 16 years. On the territory of Ukraine for more than 5 years the interests of the "Sensor" enterprise have been represented by the "Geyser" Industrial Group - "EnergopromPribor" LLC. The advice and recommendations of our specialists, offered in this article, will help in solving these problems.

Vladimir Belyakov, Anatoly Golovin, Denis Kushneruk, Vyacheslav Pershenkov, Mikhail Tikhonov Portable Explosive Trace Detector The global nature of the threat of terrorism, in addition to the adoption of military and political countermeasures, requires the world community to develop appropriate technical solutions to prevent the preparation and conduct of terrorist acts. One of the aspects of solving this problem is the detection and control of the movement of explosives. For this, control points installed at airports, railway stations, port and customs terminals must be equipped with highly sensitive equipment that reacts to ultra-low concentrations of explosives. The technical means of control provide an objective assessment when examining an object and increase the likelihood of detecting carefully camouflaged explosives.

Gidget Catcart Using pulse train generators to test digital circuits Testing designs in digital electronics typically requires one or more digital signals, some of which are very difficult to generate. To solve this problem, pulse train generators (PUTs) for supplying to the device under test have been created that can satisfy almost any requirement. These instruments are also well suited for electrical semiconductor testing applications where stimulus sequences are used to diagnose failures, and as a controller for digital systems operating with user-defined control algorithms. From a software point of view, the sequence generator can be a good tool for debugging applications developed for the device under test.
