This generator module is based on the AD9850 microcircuit from Analog Devices , which is a complete DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) frequency synthesizer with a built-in comparator.
Such synthesizers are unique in their precision, practically not subject to temperature drift and aging. Due to its high technical characteristics, DDS synthesizers have recently replaced conventional analog frequency synthesizers. Their main advantage is very high frequency and phase resolution , which are digitally controlled.
The generator can be controlled both via serial (serial) and parallel interfaces . The digital interface makes it easy to implement microcontroller control. J1 jumper can be used to change the interface type: if closed, parallel will be selected, if open - serial.
The AD9850 includes a fast comparator that converts the sinusoidal DAC output (after external filtering) to a square low-jitter waveform for easy application as clock generator. This requires that the jumper J2 be closed. Using the potentiometer on the module, you can change the amplitude and hysteresis of these signals.
To adjust the amplitude of the DAC output signal, there is a jumper J3, to the outputs of which an external variable resistance can be connected. Closed jumper J4 turns on the second sinusoid.
