FSK-30S alcohol-soluble liquid flux is a new generation universal organic flux. Designed as a non-toxic and non-corrosive to metals flux based on pure ethyl alcohol. After drying, it is washed off with alcohols.
FSK-30S consists exclusively of substances used in the food and cosmetic industry, which determines its safety for health.
Among other active components, the flux contains rosin.
FSK-30S is a 30% solution of a paste-like composition FSK-30 in edible ethyl alcohol, which provides very high efficiency.
Designed for soldering printed circuit boards (SMD elements), and other products from copper and its alloys as well as nickel-plated products, where it is necessary to apply flux in a thin layer. It is especially worth noting the high efficiency of FSK-30S when soldering nickel-plated low-frequency and high-frequency connectors that cannot be tinned with rosin.
A distinctive feature of the flux is that it is very effective at tinning oxidized and darkened copper (except for brass and zinc), without causing corrosion even if it is not washed off.
This property allows copper to be sealed without preliminary stripping of the darkened layer, which greatly facilitates installation.
After drying, the flux forms a thin sticky, non-hardening layer, insoluble in water. SMD elements are easily glued to the sticky layer of flux formed on the surface of the printed circuit board, after the evaporation of alcohol, which greatly facilitates installation. The viscous consistency of the flux layer is extremely easy to wash off with polar organic solvents (ethyl alcohol, isopropanol, acetone, ethyl acetate).
The main difference from standard fluxes is the absence of inorganic acids and their salts in the composition of FSK-30S, in particular - chlorides and hydrochlorides, amines and amino alcohols, acid anhydrides, ammonium salts. Since the flux does not contain strong electrolytes, it does not corrode metals.
The flux does not contain toxic compounds and its vapors are not hazardous to health, unlike many other active fluxes containing halogens and toxic organics. It should also be noted that pure edible ethyl alcohol was specially chosen as a liquid base for the flux, since alcohol vapors are harmless to human health, while most other manufacturers (in order to reduce costs) make fluxes based on toxic isopropanol.
