Load cell is the main measuring element in electronic scales of any kind. This sensor converts mechanical deformations into an electrical signal. The connection of 4 such sensors will make it possible to create an electronic scale with a measurement of up to 200 kg. This design is often used in bathroom scales.
It is based on thin-film resistors that change their resistance when deformed. These resistors are based on a half-bridge, which must either be supplemented with resistors to a full bridge, or connected together with another sensor or sensors, after which this bundle can be connected directly to the ADC, which records changes in the values of the resistors.
The sensor is made of aluminum, has the shape of a square, in the center of which there is a protruding part with a strain gauge. When installing the sensor in the working position, it is necessary to rigidly fix the side walls, and place the central part so that it can bend freely to fix the change in weight.
